bio

October 26th, 2006

Although I’m fairly consistent across contexts, here’s how I might describe myself in the following situations:

Academic bio: Dr. Cheryl Ball teaches and researches new media texts from efferent and aesthetic perpsectives and across a range of theoretical frameworks. She’s published in Computers and Composition, Composition Studies, and Convergence. It is her goal to only publish in journals that start with the letter C. However, sponsored by the letter K, she co-edits, Kairos: Rhetoric, Technology, Pedagogy.

Personal bio: Cheryl is an optimist who likes to spend Friday afternoons at the bar with friends, but you should know that she is always thinking about work in the back of her mind. And her cat, Gizmo. He’s the best.

[If she had a Match.com] Dating bio: Having grown up around sand and water, long walks on the beach do not appeal to Cheryl, and roses make her wince. The way to her heart is through her stomach and brain, so you get double points if you can cook and tell her about the great book you just read or movie you just saw. Oh, and clean up the dishes afterwards, because she doesn’t prioritize housework. Cheryl is a virgo, and so while she hates messy rooms, she would rather watch a smart TV show than fold the laundry (although the laundry issue will become overwhelming to her and then she’ll feel compelled to fold it, in a few weeks).
