In three one-hour sessions, for three different sections of Teaching Literature (a methods class for English Education majors), I discussed why and how to integrate multimedia texts into a secondary education English classroom. Students in the class analyzed example new media texts and discussed how to use their critical and rhetorical knowledge as English majors to help them teach students to analyze nonwritten texts.

Ellison and I introduced them to the concept of digital humanities, providing them with sample videos and graphics that they could remix, based on a theme of civil rights (since the workshop was close upon the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday).
